Baran Kurtoğlu’s work Couple brings together notions of
image and space to give another dimension to the viewer’s perception
of space. Just like the moment of watching television, the thought of
“I am here!” seems to be considered as a moment of participation,
this situation already lies in the reality of daily life. In his works, he
primarily works with the dialogue between the human and the object,
dealing with this issue not only as a dialogue between the artist and
the video, but also including the viewer as the third person.

Baran Kurtoğlu’nun Çift isimli eserinde görüntü ve mekan
olgusunun birlikteliği ile izleyicinin mekan algısına farklı bir boyut
kazandırılmaya çalışılmıştır. Tıpkı televizyon izleme anında olduğu
gibi seyircinin ‘’ben de buradayım!’’ düşüncesi, sanatçı açısından
bir katılım anı olarak düşünülüyor olsa da bu durum, günlük hayatın
gerçekliğinde zaten yatmaktadır. İşlerinde ise daha çok insan-nesne
diyaloğu ile hareket ederek, bu durumu sadece sanatçı – video
arasındaki diyalog değil, üçüncü kişi olan izleyiciyi de işin içine
katarak yola çıkmaktadır.
